“Based on the bestselling novel by master storyteller Nicholas Sparks, THE LONGEST RIDE centers on the star-crossed love affair between Luke, a former champion bull rider looking to make a comeback, and Sophia, a college student who is about to embark upon her dream job in New York City’s art world. As conflicting paths and ideals test their relationship, Sophia and Luke make an unexpected and fateful connection with Ira, whose memories of his own decades-long romance with his beloved wife deeply inspire the young couple. Spanning generations and two intertwining love stories, THE LONGEST RIDE explores the challenges and infinite rewards of enduring love.”

I really am a fan of Nicholas Sparks books and movies. I am a girl…I am allowed to like that stuff 😉
Normally I would read the book before watching the movie. I even started this book..but never finished it..I don’t even know why. But I still watched the movie. And I really liked it! We all know the Sparks classic like “The Notebook” or “A Walk To Remember” (I love those two :D) and I am really looking forward to see those movies. Sadly the last one that came out “The Best of Me” wasn’t the best at all. But I am not talking about that today, I am talking about “The Longest Ride”.

Like I said I really liked it. The story line was really good. Stories with flashbacks are one of my favorites! Especially to a somewhat dramatic time and WW2 was definitely such a time. I liked that this movie contained two separate love stories. And I loved how they connected. Luke and Sophia are the couple in the present time. It was really beautiful to watch them together. How they met, how they got to know each other, how they struggled and finally found each other. Luke was really sweet and a real gentleman. One of my favorite scenes was their first date. So awesome! If a guy would take me on such date I think I would marry him 😛 And its nice to see that gentlemen do still exist…somewhere 😉 I had few problems with Sophia, but I think that mainly because I don’t like Britt Robertson that much!
The parallels between Luke and Sophia and Ira and Ruth were a good way to connect the stories. I also liked how Sophia always read the letters to Ira and how he told her about his life with Ruth. The art that plays big role was also great. I especially loved the ending! It was so sweet and satisfying.

I can recommend this movie to all romantic fans, horse fans, art fans and of course Nicholas Sparks fans! I enjoyed watching it and that is the most important criteria for me.

Have you seen this or an other Nicholas Sparks movie? Did you like it? Tell me!

xoxo

  1. I love Nicholas Sparks though I haven’t read any books or films based on them in a while. The Last Song was one of my favourites, book and movie wise. I liked Dear John, the movie, but I didn’t actually like the book too much (I don’t remember why though). I think I shall definitely have to read/watch this at some point!

      1. I might just have to have a Nicholas Sparks month later this year, haha. I haven’t read that and I can’t remember if I’ve seen the movie or not.
